We design enterprise Wi-Fi networks based on a coverage survey, not by estimation. Access point density is defined according to simultaneous users, building materials and existing interference.

We install Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 with centralised controllers, VLAN segmentation, a separate guest network and a captive portal when required. In the hospitality sector, where the device density per room is high, we scale for peak rather than average usage.

After installation, we measure the actual coverage and deliver the heat map so that what was contracted is documented.

Wi-Fi is no longer an extra — it's where your business works. DataRoad designs and installs corporate wireless networks with full coverage and guaranteed security: on-site coverage surveys, professional equipment and ongoing management. Your team connects and works; visitors have separate, secure access; and the network grows with your business.

The Corporate Wi-Fi Network Your Company Deserves — Not the One You've Settled for Until Now

If your business still relies on a home router connected to your internet contract, haphazardly scattered wireless access points, or a Wi-Fi network that “sometimes works” — you are paying an invisible cost every day: lost productivity, interrupted meetings, dissatisfied clients and frustrated employees.

A corporate wireless network is not just a larger version of your home Wi-Fi. It is an infrastructure designed with engineering rigor, installed with professional equipment, configured for your organisation's specific environment and monitored in real time — so that it never fails when you need it most.

DataRoad designs, installs, configures and manages premium corporate wireless networks for businesses, hotels, clinics, universities and public organisations in Portugal. With over 11 years of experience and dozens of completed projects across the country, we are the partner that ensures your company's Wi-Fi simply works — always.

The Problem with Most Business Wi-Fi Networks in Portugal

A network rack with a row of illuminated green LEDs on a switch and bundled Ethernet cables, labelled and organised inside a server cabinet
The performance of an enterprise wireless network is decided by the active equipment and the cabling that powers it — not by the number of antennas.

We are straightforward: most wireless networks installed in Portuguese companies were done incorrectly. Not because the technicians are incompetent — but because installing a quality corporate wireless network requires a process that most suppliers do not follow.

The most common mistakes we find when we arrive at a new client:

Access points installed without a prior site survey — placed where it was convenient to run the cable, rather than where coverage is required. The result is dead spots, excessive signal overlap and interference between access points.

Domestic or semi-professional equipment designed to handle dozens of simultaneous users — which works reasonably well with 5 people but crashes with 20.

Lack of network segregation — employees, visitors, IoT devices and critical systems all on the same network, without any isolation or access control.

No monitoring — nobody knows the network has issues until users start complaining.

No centralised management — each access point is configured individually, making it impossible to manage, update or monitor them efficiently.

DataRoad does not make these mistakes. Our process begins before the first piece of equipment is installed — and our service does not end once installation is complete.

The DataRoad Process — From Analysis to Ongoing Management

1

Professional Site Survey

Before any installation takes place, our team carries out a comprehensive site survey of the premises — a physical survey of the space, measurement of existing interference, analysis of building materials that affect signal propagation, mapping of high-usage areas and identification of sources of interference.

The result is a predicted coverage map, showing the exact recommended location for each access point, the calculated transmission power and the channel configuration that minimises interference.

We don't install anything without a site survey. It's non-negotiable.

2

Custom Network Project

Based on the site survey, we have developed a network design tailored to your installation — including the number and location of access points, the necessary cabling infrastructure, the switching architecture, VLAN segmentation, access policies by user profile, and provision for future growth.

The project is presented to the client before work begins, including a site plan showing the location of the equipment, full technical specifications and an estimate of coverage by zone.

3

Professional and Certified Installation

Installation of the access points at the positions defined in the project, with the routing of certified structured cabling, ceiling or wall mounting with a professional finish, and connection to the central switching.

Complete system configuration: SSIDs per user profile, WPA3 Enterprise security policies, VLAN separation, bandwidth control per user or device, wireless roaming between access points, and integration with existing authentication systems.

4

Validation and Coverage Testing

Following installation, we carry out a validation heat map — actual measurement of coverage across all points of the space, comparing the results obtained with the planned design. The client receives the validation report before signing off on the completion of the work.

5

Centralised Management and 24/7 Monitoring

An unmonitored corporate wireless network is a network that will fail without warning. DataRoad keeps all installed wireless systems under continuous monitoring — with automatic alerts for hardware failures, signal degradation, user overload or intrusion attempts.

Any anomaly is detected and resolved by our team, often before any user realises there was a problem.

Corporate Wireless Technology We Install

Ubiquiti UniFi — The Choice for Enterprise and Hospitality Environments

DataRoad is a certified Ubiquiti partner and has extensive experience in the installation and management of UniFi networks in corporate, hotel and educational environments. The UniFi ecosystem offers centralised management of all access points on a single console, with total network visibility, configuration of policies per user group and real-time monitoring.

Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E — the latest standards offering speeds up to 9.6 Gbps, reduced latency and superior performance in high-density environments where multiple devices compete for the same channel.

Cisco Meraki — For Large Enterprise Environments

For more complex installations — university campuses, multi-site networks, environments with advanced security requirements — DataRoad implements Cisco Meraki solutions with cloud management, application visibility, intrusion detection and granular access policies.

Fortinet FortiAP — Enterprise-Grade Integrated Wireless

For clients already using Fortinet as their security platform, DataRoad integrates FortiAP access points into the existing infrastructure — featuring unified network and security management, wireless traffic inspection and access policies controlled by FortiGate.

Real projects. Proven results.

Coverage is not the same as capacity

A map showing signal across a space says nothing about what happens when a hundred people connect at the same time. Coverage is a measure of range; capacity is a measure of how many devices the system can handle simultaneously with acceptable performance.

We size by capacity and validate by measurement. It is the difference between a network that passes the acceptance test and one that copes day-to-day.

The best way to evaluate a wireless network installer is by the work they have already done. Here are some of the projects completed by DataRoad:

Hotel HD Duecitânia Design **** — Lisbon

Complete installation of a wireless internet network throughout the hotel, featuring a remote management and permanent monitoring solution. The hotel required full coverage in all guest rooms, public areas, and the back-office — with separation between the guest network and the internal operational network. The implemented solution includes permanent monitoring and remote management, enabling DataRoad to intervene in the event of any anomaly without the need for a physical visit to the hotel.

Varandas de Lisboa — 22 Apartments, Lisbon

Wireless network installation for 22 holiday apartments with views over the Tagus River, featuring network segregation per accommodation, centralised management and remote monitoring. Each apartment has its own isolated network, ensuring privacy between guests and security for the building's management network. DataRoad monitors the status of the network in real time and resolves most incidents remotely, with no impact on guests.

Serviced Apartments Boavista Palace — 72 Apartments, Porto

One of DataRoad's largest residential-tourist wireless network projects in Porto: 72 apartments with individual Wi-Fi coverage, internet access redundancy, and complete separation between resident networks and the building management network. Project carried out with a complete site survey and apartment-by-apartment coverage validation.

Momentus Senior Ávila — 8-Storey Building, Lisbon

Installation of an enterprise wireless network in an 8-storey building in Lisbon, for a senior residence with dozens of simultaneous users per floor. The project required careful planning of signal overlap between floors and the capacity of each access point to support the expected number of devices per zone.

Forward College — Lisbon University of London

Forward College, in partnership with the University of London, has chosen DataRoad to implement the IT and wireless network for its premises in Lisbon. An academic environment requires dense coverage, the capacity to support hundreds of simultaneous devices — laptops, tablets and smartphones — and integration with the institution's authentication systems.

ReStream, Cascais

Complete upgrade of ReStream's IT and wireless network in Cascais, featuring the installation of new-generation switches and multiple Wi-Fi 6 access points — the latest technology, offering up to 4 times more capacity per access point compared to Wi-Fi 5, especially in environments with many simultaneous devices. Integration with a firewall solution for perimeter network security.

Mitrelli Group — Facilities in Portugal

Complete overhaul of the Mitrelli Group's IT network, including the installation of structured cabling infrastructure, core switches, and multiple Wi-Fi 6 access points across various locations. The project featured a comprehensive site survey, network design, and the installation and configuration of centralised management with real-time monitoring.

Public Administration Social Services (SSAP) — 3 Buildings, Évora

Selected through a public tender, DataRoad implemented a wireless network in 3 SSAP buildings in Évora, integrated with the structured cabling infrastructure featuring 456 certified network points. A public sector project meeting all the requirements for technical rigor, documentation, and certification demanded by public bodies.

Management and Monitoring — What Happens After Installation

An enterprise wireless network is not a product — it is a service. The real value does not lie in the installed equipment, but in the continuous management that ensures they always operate at peak performance.

What DataRoad monitors in real time across all managed networks:

Status of each access point — online, offline, overloaded or experiencing signal degradation.

Number of connected clients per access point — with automatic alerts when capacity is exceeded and load redistribution among adjacent access points.

Signal quality in each zone — proactive detection of access points with degraded coverage due to physical damage, new interference or space layout changes.

Unauthorised access attempts — detection of unrecognised devices, brute-force attacks and rogue access points installed without authorisation.

Bandwidth consumption per user and per application — with the ability to limit users who consume excessive resources and guarantee quality of service for critical applications.

Firmware updates — applied automatically during maintenance windows, with no impact on users.

The result: Most problems are resolved before any user even realises there was one. When it is not possible to resolve them remotely, the DataRoad team is alerted immediately and takes action.

Wireless Networks for High-Demand Environments

Hospitality and Tourism Wi-Fi is today the second most valued criterion by guests, immediately after cleanliness. A poorly dimensioned wireless network costs negative reviews and lost repeat bookings. DataRoad installs hotel networks with full coverage in all rooms and common areas, separation between guest and operational networks, a custom captive portal with the hotel's visual identity, and bandwidth management per room.

Health and Clinics Clinical environments require wireless networks that support networked medical equipment, DICOM imaging systems and mobile devices for clinical use — with strict separation between the clinical and administrative networks, compliance with GDPR requirements and absolute reliability in critical situations.

Higher Education and Training University campuses with hundreds or thousands of simultaneous users require a high-density wireless architecture — featuring next-generation access points, intelligent spectrum management and integration with academic authentication systems such as RADIUS and LDAP.

Offices and Corporate Headquarters Modern office environments featuring open spaces, meeting rooms equipped with videoconferencing systems and total employee mobility require wireless networks that guarantee seamless roaming between access points, quality of service for VoIP and video calls, and access security based on user profile.

Warehouses, Logistics and Industry Industrial and logistics environments have specific challenges: long distances, signal-blocking materials, moving equipment and barcode scanners that require minimal latency. DataRoad designs wireless networks for industrial environments using outdoor and ruggedised equipment, designed to withstand the physical conditions of these environments.

Why DataRoad — and Not Just Any Network Installer

Site survey always included. We don't install nets without measuring the space first. This is non-negotiable — it's the only way to guarantee results.

Premium equipment from certified manufacturers. Ubiquiti, Cisco, Fortinet — no generic equipment without support or firmware warranty.

Ubiquiti Elite Partner certification. We have access to manufacturer technical support, advanced training and exclusive resources that most installers do not have.

Post-installation coverage validation. We delivered the actual heat map report, not the one the project had forecasted.

24/7 monitoring included in maintenance. All the networks we install can be managed and monitored by our team — with real-time alerts and proactive intervention.

Complete documentation delivered to the client. Updated network diagram, exported configurations, access credentials and basic management manual — so that the client is never held hostage by the installer.

No tie-ins. The maintenance and monitoring contract can be cancelled at any time. We stay because we deserve to stay.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many access points does my business need?

It is not possible to answer without a site survey. It depends on the area, the building materials, the number of simultaneous devices and the type of usage. Any figure given over the phone is a guess — and usually an underestimate.

Can I use the equipment I already have?

Often yes, in whole or in part. During the survey we identify what is capable of remaining in service and what is no longer able to do so, and we state this in writing before proposing replacements.

Do I need to run a new cable?

Each enterprise access point requires its own cabling with PoE power. Where certified cabling already exists, it is used; where it does not, it is part of the project — and it is the item that most constrains the schedule.

What is the difference compared to the Wi-Fi the provider installs?

The operator equipment is a home router with an antenna. An enterprise network has centrally managed access points, roaming between them, distinct security profiles, bandwidth control and monitoring. They are different product categories.
